Bio

Haidyn Simmons has been providing mental health services since 2022, specializing in supporting teenagers, young adults, and families. Haidyn is dedicated to guiding her clients through their unique journeys toward healing and personal growth by fostering a safe and supportive environment where they can explore their thoughts and emotions.


Originally from Louisiana, Haidyn moved to Alaska two years ago and has fallen in love with the state’s breathtaking natural beauty and her community. In her free time, you can find her reading, spending time outdoors with her pets, practicing yoga, or enjoying a good cup of coffee with friends.

Education and Training

Haidyn earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Family and Child Studies from Louisiana Tech University, followed by a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2022. Her training includes hands-on experience at Intuitive Solutions Counseling and Recovery, where she facilitated group therapy and provided individual therapy for clients navigating co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. She is currently supervised by Mary Kuepper, LPC-S.


Experience

Haidyn’s diverse experience spans outpatient therapy, intensive outpatient programs, community mental health, and private practice. She discovered her passion for counseling while working in a nonprofit role in Anchorage, Alaska, where she provided support and resources to local communities and families. This experience inspired her to further her education and fully embrace her journey in Alaska. Haidyn is passionate about supporting teenagers and young adults as they navigate the complexities of identity, anxiety, life transitions, and trauma.


Counseling Perspective

Haidyn believes in tailoring her therapeutic approach to each individual, ensuring a person-centered and trauma-informed experience. She values creating a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship, emphasizing the importance of connection and authenticity in the healing process. Haidyn adopts an integrative approach to counseling, utilizing techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness practices. She also incorporates elements of psychoeducation to empower clients with knowledge about their mental health. By actively collaborating with clients, Haidyn aims to cultivate a supportive environment where they can explore their thoughts and emotions freely, ultimately guiding them toward meaningful personal growth and healing.
